Remove the Stones

Recently, I was reading a report from a tour group who visited the Golan in Israel and saw a field with a massive amount of stones in the field. They had a picture of it, which gave you an insight of how many stones were in this field. They were big stones, so many you could hardly see the grass. It was a very vivid picture.

To make this field arable and able to produce fruit, the rocks have to be removed. As you can imagine, this takes a lot of hard work and toil, removing the heavy stones, ploughing and discovering more stones hidden beneath the soil, then more hard work, removing those stones and turning the soil again, until the soil is ready to be sown.

What a picture of our lives! We often have to toil to bring the blessing in our lives to full expression, and we have to remove the blockages (stones). These stones in our lives could be anything, and for all of us it will be different. Are we sometimes self righteous or compromising in some way, do we harbour unbelief, or are we fearful or distrustful of God? I have recently had to repent of some of these things in my life and God has brought new life into me, where death had begun to enter in.

Then we look at the long list in Mark 7:20-23, ‘It is what comes from inside that defiles you. For from within, out of a person`s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride and foolishness. All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you’.

These things are not to bring condemnation to us, but, in these days, He needs clean vessels to use for His Glory. God wants us to seek His face and discover the stones in our lives, to plough in prayer in our own lives and ask Him to remove the stones, so that we can become fruitful in His vineyard.

Prayer: Thank You, Father, that You love me so much that You want me to come to You and ask You to show me the stones in my life. Help me not to give up, but to keep ploughing my heart, and show me anything that offends You. Help me to deal with it with Your help. Amen.
